The Blacklist season 7 filming underway; what to expect

Ready for The Blacklist season 7 to begin on NBC? We all still have a bit of a wait for that, but you don’t have to wait for more news on the show behind the scenes!

In a new post on Instagram, Dembe himself in Hisham Tawfiq confirmed that today marks the first day of the latest season in New York City, which means that there are an eventful several months ahead for himself, Megan Boone, James Spader, and the rest of the cast. It hasn’t been confirmed as of yet if this is going to be the final season or not, but it’s fair to be concerned. Our personal hope is that there are two more seasons to come at least, but the ball’s going to be in the court of Sony and NBC — if you want more, be sure to watch live!

We would imagine that fairly early on in the process of filming season 7, one of the top priorities is going to be working in order to resolve the mystery of Katarina Rostova — was that really her we saw with Raymond Reddington in the closing minutes of season 6, or what else is going on here? We’re also imagining that the writers will take some time introducing some new criminals and trying to build more connective tissue towards Katarina … while working to repair the Task Force following what happened with the Anna McMahon – Robert Diaz debacle over the final weeks of the season.

We also are hoping still that the writers choose to offer up some clarity on some long-simmering loose ends. Take, for example, the Takoma Park House that Reddington blew up in the first season, or some of the specific memories of a young girl he looks back on. Are those meant to be of Liz or someone else? Everything is complicated by the other big question: Reddington’s identity. If he is really Ilya Koslov, he would probably not be thinking of a young Liz, but rather someone buried within his own past.

The first preview for The Blacklist season 7 will not likely air until September, so be prepared to be waiting for a while for more on that … though fans of The Blacklist are certainly used to waiting for things at this point.
