Outlander season 5 filming update: Sam Heughan & more night shoots
In a new post on Twitter, Sam Heughan confirmed that he is in the process of working on more night shoots … not the easiest sort of thing to do when it’s also raining. The good news? That it’s summer and at least it’s not freezing outside. That may be the only good news, other than the whole fulfilling job part of the equation.
Ever since having a fairly public filming take place for Caitriona Balfe this past weekend, Outlander is now back in its typical pattern of being under wraps. Much of the reason for that is quite simple: They’re filming in secluded places! Also, because season 5 is a period setting and Scotland is doubling for North Carolina, it’s not like you can throw Sam and the rest of the cast into major cities and be able to make it look like the 18th century all that easy. The show’s got a pattern of making things work — it’s just frustrating from time to time during these long hiatuses. At least we know that there is a Comic-Con presence this year even though the cast isn’t there, and that everyone is working hard to make these new episodes as good as possible.
As for what Sam is filming night shoots for, let’s go back to something that we’ve said in the past: If these characters are up late at night in a world without electricity, they’re up to no good. They’re either running from something or trying to sneak up on something. You have to wonder what could be bringing Jamie Fraser out into, presumably, the dead of night.
What sort of night scenes do you want to see in regards to Outlander season 5?
Be sure to let us know in the comments, and remember to come back soon for some other news.
