Blood & Treasure episode 10 review: A mystery revolving around Lexi is revealed

Blood & Treasure season 1

This week’s Blood & Treasure took a big step forward in revealing its great mysteries. This was the third episode to steer slightly away from the procedural format that the show follows to give us more answers to other questions they had set up early on. Last week’s episode ended with the death of Fabi and his acknowledgment that Lexi’s mother was in the Brotherhood.

During this episode, Danny and Lexi seek answers from the Brotherhood, and they receive no information about Lexi’s mother. However, the Brotherhood reveals that they know the real identity of Farouk and together they decide to use this information to lure Farouk into a trap. Unfortunately, Farouk escapes, but he leaves behind his backpack that points to where he is headed next. After nearly capturing Farouk, Danny and Lexi enlist Hardwick to tap into his underworld contacts in hopes of cornering Farouk before he disappears again in Cyprus.

In Cyprus, Danny makes it clear that Farouk is to be taken in alive, while Hardwick and Lexi would rather see him dead. At this time, Hardwick also promises to reveal chatter the Brotherhood has been discussing about Lexi’s father leaving her and Danny questioning whether or not they can trust the secret organization. After a battle between the three and Farouk’s men, Hardwick shoots Farouk dead in order to get his revenge. Gwen shows up with back up and she and Danny reconcile and agree to work together now, especially after Gwen stole Fabi’s secret files. The group also knows that it’s the only way to stop Farouk’s men who are determined to carry out the mission. The episode ends with the group realizing that Farouk’s plan included a biological weapon and with Lexi discovering that her mother was in the Brotherhood because she is a direct descendant of Cleopatra she realizes that she is too.

In addition, this episode brought back a favorite character of ours: Father Chuck. Gwen, fed up with Danny and Lexi’s tactics, arrests Father Chuck for aiding them, but her attempts to get information regarding the pair fails when Father Chuck turns the tables on her by helping her solve her own inner problems. It was a great scene that showcased a character we don’t see as often, but when we do he makes a big impact. His influence this week impacted Gwen and her anger toward Danny and Lexi. Gwen is a rule follower because it’s all she has ever known, and Father Chuck helps her to see that even though Danny and Lexi aren’t following the rules, they are trying to ride the line as close as possible for a greater moral purpose. It works and by episode’s end Gwen is back to working with the couple.

CarterMatt Verdict

Overall, the episode moved the plot forward in a way that kept us on our toes. We were engaged the entire time and kept wanting to know more. With Farouk dead, we look forward to how this will all play out with their main villain gone. Or is Farouk not the main threat?

Guess we will find out next week on Blood & Treasure. Blood & Treasure airs on Tuesdays at 10pm on CBS.
