Ink Master season 12 episode 7 preview: Are the teams unified anymore?
For the better part of this season, these contestants have been told to think as a team, given that working together as a unit will be one of the best ways to ensure that you make it further in the competition. Yet, we’re inching closer now to a period where that may not be the case anymore. It’s not that the format of the show is changing; instead, the perception that some of the contestants have on each other is. We’re six episodes into the journey now — you know what certain artists are good at, just as you what certain artists struggle with. If you think you can beat someone on your own team easier than you can someone from the other team, doesn’t it make sense to try and target the person you can beat? The problem that comes around is this: How to target someone when there aren’t many ways to do that with the current skull-pick structure.
What this competition does to make things a little bit more creative is simply this: Forcing the artists to think strategically. Let’s say you’re one of the guys and you want to take out a teammate — we’ve already seen some of this play out already in regards to Cam. Is there value in throwing the Flash Challenge so that the women can saddle him with an impossible canvas? It’s a fun thing to think about, but the idea of throwing a Flash Challenge in the garbage is probably a tad too extreme. You’re better off just trying to take advantage of an opportunity that is there if you know that you don’t have a skull pick. Alliances can help you in this game, but it’s really going to be all about making sure that you’ve got the best tattoos. You can make lemonade out of lemons in this competition more often than not.
At the end of the preview for Ink Master season 12 episode 7, Ash Mann is tearful and upset. It doesn’t show how she gets to that point, but it’s something to think about.
