‘Arrow’ spoilers: Kelly Hu on future for China White

For the first time on “Arrow” Wednesday night, we are going to have an opportunity to see one of the most-notable villains from the classic comic-book series in China White. So how will she show up? Let’s just say that it is in a way that is slightly different from the source material, but also compelling in its own way to suit the real-life circumstances of the show.

Speaking in a new interview with TVLine about her part, actress Kelly Hu first and foremost makes the distinction rather clear that she is going to be appearing in at least a few episodes during the CW show’s first season; following that, she also drops about as many details as she is likely able to given the super-secret nature of the role that she is playing:

“In the first episode, she comes out as the sort of right-hand man of the Chinese Triad, as sort of the assassin. It doesn’t seem like I say a whole lot in these first episodes, but later on you’ll see that there’s a bit more going on with her!”

So how will all of this shake out? If we have to guess, our assumption is that, in classic superhero fashion, China is going to be able to get away from Oliver Queen even if he ends up defeating her in some capacity. Neither one of these characters is going to give up in the pursuit of the other, and in many ways this is what makes this series so very intriguing. It’s basically an old-school comic book series at a time when there are really not that many of them on TV anymore.

What do you think about Hu as China White, and are you just as excited for the new episode this week?
