Outlander season 5: Working to endure the great wait

Outlander season 4

If you are awaiting Outlander season 5, you should really know that we are in the midst of entering a very strange time for the series. Filming has been going on for a while, but at least through much of it, there have been opportunities to see and hear from the cast and crew. Take, for example, the Emmy panel that took place a little bit earlier this year, or some of the recent appearances that Sam Heughan is made at honorary degree ceremonies.

Now, things are getting a little bit more isolated. The ceremonies have come and gone, the My Peak challenge Gala is over, and we don’t foresee in the near future Starz flying the cast and crew out to LA in order to do any more panel discussions. Now, the focus is almost exclusively on making sure that the series delivers an exceptional fifth season. The problem for some viewers and fans is going to be information, or a lack thereof. With the season 5 premiere most likely not airing until 2020, it’s hard to imagine that anyone over at Starz is going to be all that much in a hurry to give us more content. We don’t imagine that there’s going to be an official trailer anytime soon, and we also know that the series isn’t going to be at San Diego Comic-Con.

So what do we really do in the midst of this really long wait? If we were to suggest one thing more than any other, it would be taking this time to recommend the show to others (the first two seasons are on Netflix), re-watching some old episodes, and also just speculating on what sort of interesting stuff could be coming up ahead. We know that season 5 is starting off close to the cusp of the Revolutionary War, and throughout it, we will see the story build towards that very thing. It may just be useful in this time to look up more history of the era and get ourselves immersed into what the story could be.

For Starz as a network, we’re sure they’ll do little things here or there to keep us excited in the meantime. Even if we don’t get a full-on teaser or a trailer anytime soon, we would be surprised if there weren’t at least some photos released over the next several months that give us a sense as to what this story is going to look like. Or, maybe another behind the scenes featurette or at the very least a message from the cast. They know that Droughtlander is long and it’s not the easiest thing for any longtime fan of the show to endure. Yet, they’re also aware that Outlander fans do have a tendency to be patient, and they do recognize and understand that sometimes, the cast and crew just have to work their way through episodes rather than putting on the promotional cap. Good things come to those who wait!

What do you want Starz to do to keep us engaged in the time between now and an Outlander season 5 trailer release? Be sure to say or in the comments.
