Outlander video: Sam Heughan jokes about being ‘King of Scotland’
Throughout the past several days, we’ve been lucky enough to discuss and share a wide array of different videos featuring the actor from the Dumfries campus of the University of Glasgow. He was there receiving an honorary doctorate — the second so far this year for his work in both the entertainment industry and with charities.
Within this article today, we’ve got something else exciting to share via ITV News Border — a video where Sam discusses what makes the Dumfries – New Galloway region of Scotland so special to him (he grew up in the area) and also what’s next for him. This includes a joke about him fighting next to become King of Scotland. (Let’s reiterate that — ’tis a joke. We don’t think there are any Royal overthrows coming in the new future.) While there isn’t a whole lot to share on the subject of Outlander in this video, we do think it’s nice to get a little bit of Sam’s sense of humor. It helps to make all of these stand out amidst the larger sea of them.
As much fun as it would be to see Sam go on a tour throughout all of Scotland collecting more degrees, we haven’t heard anything (for now) about any other schools awarding him. With that, we have to think that this is the end and the next order of business for Sam is filming … a lot of filming. There’s a long time to go still until season 5 production is complete and that means that there is a lot of work left to do. With the cast not attending San Diego Comic-Con and with the show not premiering, most likely, until 2020, that gives all of the cast and crew the opportunity to put their best into making every episode awesome.
While Sam Heughan may not be the King of Scotland, we know that Jamie Fraser has been referred to as the King of Men. Close enough, right?
