‘America’s Next Top Model’ to bring in male models for cycle 20

“America’s Next Top Model” will be back for another season in the spring, and for the show’s landmark 20th season, they are finally doing something rather different to change the game: male models will be stopping by for the first time.

While the official press release from The CW does not necessarily make it clear just what is going to happen when it comes to the cast, it states that male contestants “will be added” to a crop of who we are believing will be the standard crop of female contenders to face off for the title. In our head, we see this as something similar to the “British Invasion” season where it is split evenly down the middle.

Is this a great move? Personally, we think so. This may finally shake up the sort of contestants that Tyra Banks and the producers cast, since they will also have to think about how these ladies will interact with men in addition to how they interact with each other. It should also give us some very different sort of photo shoots, since the sort of glamour shots you would see with women are very different than the sort of photo shoots you will see from the men. Let’s just hope that somewhere along the way, they get rid of the ridiculous public vote that really doesn’t need to be there. We’re not professional models or designers; therefore, we really have no business saying who is the best out of a given number of contestants.

What do you think about having male models on the show?
