For anyone who is familiar with these movies, they are no joke. This is a franchise that has a devoted, passionate audience, and songs from them (think in terms of “See You Again”) end up becoming big hits sometimes on the other side of it. It’s a chance to have your song heard by millions of people.
Will Kyle Williams have that big chance with “I’m Just Getting Started”? In the sneak peek below, you can see him rock out a performance that is catchy, emotive, and consistently cool from start to finish. The best thing about it is that there’s this underlying edge to the song that sounds like it will fit in perfect within a Fast and the Furious movie … but there is still work to be done. It could actually be even more aggressive with maybe a harder instrumentation behind it. We’d add a little bit more bass and more of a driving beat. We may be interested in hearing it with a slightly faster pace — a few ticks, but not anything dramatic. It’s a song that, as Aloe suggests, probably does need a bridge or some other elements to bring it home.
For now, Kyle’s got himself a heck of a good hook and lyrically, a song that does fit well with some of these characters and their antics. Because so much of this episode is about a movie, it adds another layer of drama. It’s not just about creating a song for an artist; it’s about fitting the tone of a major motion picture.
