Grand Hotel episode 2 ratings slide; The Bachelorette wins easily
Unfortunately, some of these people decided to check out on Grand Hotel rather than staying put for another week. After all, Monday night’s new episode of the series ended up generating as a whole a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This is hardly the sort of performance that is going to lead to anyone doing victory cartwheels — it’s down from the premiere, and given that The Bachelorette before it drew a 1.5 rating in total, that’s a big chunk of the lead-in that it’s losing.
Is there still a path forward for a Grand Hotel renewal? Sure. If the series does pull this rating for the remainder of the season and avoids few other drops, maybe you can argue that it will still have a chance at sticking around. It’ll be in more trouble if it continues to slide. We don’t think ABC is expecting a runaway hit here (they rarely have any in terms of scripted shows in the summer), but they want to see some consistency. Major corporations like Disney don’t need to be risk-takers when it comes to its scripted programming.
For those wondering, The Bachelorette won the Monday night ratings battle (if you even want to call it a battle) without any trouble.

What else is worth noting?
So You Think You Can Dance stayed low last night, and drew just a 0.5 rating in the demo. We’re worried about its future, but we’ve said this same thing for the better part of four or five years now and it’s always found a way to persevere. Hopefully it will again.
Meanwhile, American Ninja Warrior drew a 0.9, proving further how well it does for NBC despite getting virtually no promotion outside of the network.
