Big Brother 21 video: Houseguests talk threat level before premiere

Big Brother 21

Tomorrow night, it’s finally here — the Big Brother 21 premiere is coming to CBS! We’ve met the houseguests, we’ve seen the house, and now the only thing really left is the start of the game! Let’s hope that it’s eventful, dramatic, messy, and also occasionally hilarious. Big Brother (at least in its best form) is just as much of a rollercoaster for us watching on the outside as it is for the people in the inside. Maybe not on the same exact level, but still.

Now, let’s get to sharing some of the first videos that are coming in courtesy of the network. If you look below, you can see some of the houseguests hyping up the fact that the premiere is almost here, and then also discussing whether or not they are a physical or mental threat.

So how much do you learn from these videos? Well, you get perspective … that’s really the biggest thing that can be said at the moment. The thing with all preseason content is that it’s all skewed to a certain degree. Whether or not you should really buy into any of it is a worthy subject of debate just because everyone changes their mind in the house. Maybe some players are offering up lip-service going into the season, or maybe some genuinely feel like they’ll play one way before actually deciding to do things differently in the game.

Our feeling on the threat-level debate is rather simple: It’s all about balance. You don’t want to do anything that is so aggressive in the early going that you become an almost-immediate target. However, it’s also awful to go in and throw everything. In the modern era of Big Brother, houseguests like to vote for someone they perceived as a threat during the game — they want to believe that the winner is not someone who coasted there on the back of some other players! Winning is important, but not when you do too much of it right away. Balance out the successes and the failures; if you do that, you’ve got a chance for a great future within the game.

Consider tomorrow night’s premiere the appetizer to the rest of the game. We don’t think we’ll get a lot of intel on anyone’s game, but at least there are some worthwhile interactions and awkward greetings that unfold.
