Suits season 9, Pearson hype intensifies in new promo

Suits

We don’t think you needed an additional reason to be excited about Suits and the Pearson spin-off show, but here it is for you, anyway.

Below, you can see a new combo promo from the folks over at USA that does a good job setting the course for the future of both shows. As you can see within, there’s a lot of stuff going down from start to finish with both of these shows — and there’s also a lot going on in this promo! (The shows premiere together on July 17.)

Let’s start with Suits, given that the final season (which is only ten episodes and will finish up later this summer) is going to give you a chance to see how the future of the firm is going to be shored up. There are new threats once again approaching, jobs are on the line, and there are some happy returns sprinkled in there, as well. To us, the main event here is still clearly seeing the return of one Patrick J. Adams as Mike, a foundational Suits character and we’re pretty sure the world of this show would not be anywhere near the same without him. The other main event (there can be two!) is seeing what comes next for Donna and Harvey after they finally got together at the end of last season. It’s hard to say how their personal lives will shape the professional future of the firm at all — we’d think that it would be business as usual, mostly because they’re so used to a specific dynamic at work and it’s hard to see that changing.

For some more discussion on Patrick’s return in video form, be sure to check out what we’ve got at the bottom of this article! Once you watch, be sure to subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube and also view our official series playlist.

As for Pearson, this is a show that is going to send Gina Torres’ Jessica deep into the world of Chicago politics, where inevitably she is going to find quite a few warts. This is not an easy place in the world to be given that there are a lot of people who are almost constantly jostling over each other — they’re out to end careers, stomp on heads, or do virtually whatever they feel like they need to in order to seize a little bit more power. Jessica may not be a politician, but she knows a lot about navigating rough waters — she’s uniquely equipped because of her skill set to help some of the people get what they want.

Oh, and if you weren’t excited already, there is a small appearance from DB Woodside as Jeff Malone crammed in here! We’re sad about Lucifer ending, but we do still wonder whether he could come over and be a part of a potential Pearson season 2 down the road. Time will tell on that.
