Poldark season 5: Eleanor Tomlinson, more attend Cornwall premiere

Today is an incredibly big day for all fans of Poldark — after all, it marks the Cornish premiere of the show!

Given how popular the BBC series has made the region, we certainly anticipated that the premiere event today would be one for the ages. A number of cast members were there including Eleanor Tomlinson, Luke Norris, and others — Aidan Turner was not in attendance, but it is certainly safe to say that the series was very much well-represented by a lot of other popular people. This event is a chance to get in front of the fans, hype up the season, and (hopefully) get everyone prepared for what is going to be a stellar final season for the series.

For some Poldark video discussion, check out our thoughts all about the season 4 finale at the bottom of this article! Once you do just that, remember to subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube right away.

For those hoping for a premiere date, though, unfortunately that is not out there. We’re expecting the series to launch and July and then air through at least most of the rest of the summer. You’ll see in that time the extension of Ross and Demelza’s relationship, further highs and lows for all of Cornwall, and then of course political rivalries. The series is not expected to make it to the end of the Winston Graham source material, which does technically open the door for more Poldark down the road … though nothing is planned as of yet.

For those of us waiting to see this story play out in America, we’ll be waiting a bit longer — but there is something great coming while you wait around for it! It was announced this week that a new podcast is coming out in Mining Poldark that will explore the story and many of the familiar faces within it. It is going to be hosted by none other than Barrett Brountas of Masterpiece and then also Robin Ellis, the original Poldark! The tweet below gives you more information — while Mining Poldark is a podcast being produced in America, it’s going to be available when it launches all over the world. Therefore, it should serve as a nice companion for anyone watching the series, no matter where you are.

We don’t have any specific story expectations for this final chapter of the series. All we want is something that is beautiful, immersive, and a celebration of much of what we hold dear about this series. If Poldark is able to pull all of this off, we know we’ll be quite satisfied by the end of the road.
