Absentia season 2: Stana Katic talks stuntwork in ‘GMA’ appearance

AbsentiaYou’ve been waiting for it in the United States for months on end, but it’s almost finally here — the premiere of Absentia season 2 on Amazon! There’s all sorts of great stuff in the upcoming season to be excited for, whether it be the continued battles of Emily Byrne against global threats (and also herself), or the quest for some of those close to her to wrangle the ever-changing circumstances of their lives. There is a tremendous amount of drama here and, without giving anything away, Stana fans are going to be rather thrilled with all of the upcoming chances to see her. We have already seen most of the season and without giving anything away we will just say that her performance is incredible and he story this season is a genuine nail-biter. Get a cold drink, a comfy couch, and dive in the moment it comes out on Friday.

So while you wait to watch it, why not check out a new interview featuring Stana herself? The actress appeared this week on Good Morning America and in the video that we have for you below, you have a chance to hear her discuss doing her own stunts at times during production. Yet, she also describes a moment where the stunt team snuck around her to get one particularly-dangerous one done without her knowing. Hey, it’s all for her safety, right? (We imagine that doing this sort of trickery is harder when Stana is also an executive producer on the show.)

If there’s one qualm we have with the interview, it’s that it’s too short. The first little bit of it is spent with a discussion of the Toronto Raptors, and we get it — the NBA Finals are broadcast on the same network as Good Morning America and Stana originally hails from Ontario. (We’re also a Raptors fan ourselves, but we don’t think it needed to fill so much time of the interview.) We’re speaking mostly as someone who just wants to ensure this show gets the platform it deserves so that we can get a season 3 of the show. We still think that there are many clueless potential viewers out there unsure as to what Absentia is, let alone that it airs on Amazon and it is worthy of their time.

We’ll have some more great stuff coming your way on Absentia before the premiere — if you want to support it, the best thing that you can do is watch soon after it premieres, tweet about it until your Twitter-fingers hurt, and then get others to do the same. This is one of those little-engine-that-could shows that’s always probably going to be an underdog, but in some ways, that just makes it all the more likable. It’s like rooting for the undrafted rookie to make it big in a sports league! It doesn’t have a huge platform, but it makes the most of its opportunities.
