Blood & Treasure episode 6 preview: ‘The Ghost Train of Sierra Perdida’

Blood & Treasure season 1

What’s coming up on Blood & Treasure episode 6? Be prepared for another adventure — with this one taking Danny and Lexi to Spain! So much of the fun of this show comes via the spectacle of it all and getting to see the journey take these characters to different locations. How can you not love a show that sends people off to Spain to try and find the sarcophagus of Cleopatra … or a train car that may have been carrying it. There is a larger story here and there are some other characters, but this is one of those shows that can really just sell you on the specific adventure it’s presenting in a given week. How many other series can ultimately pull that off?

For some more news as to what’s coming, we suggest that you check out the official Blood & Treasure episode 6 synopsis below:

“The Ghost Train of Sierra Perdida” – Danny and Lexi follow a clue to the mountains of Spain in search of a lost train car that may have been carrying the sarcophagus of Cleopatra when it disappeared. Also, Lexi crosses paths with antiquities dealer Simon Hardwick, who offers her new information on the Brotherhood of Serapis, on BLOOD & TREASURE, Tuesday, June 18 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Sound good? Consider that at least a start — the foundation for some excellent stuff coming down the road.

Now, a ratings update

We haven’t discussed the numbers for this show in a while and we already have a clear takeaway from them: If they stay where they are, CBS could end up being in a tight spot figuring out what to do here.

Over the past two weeks, Blood & Treasure has brought in a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic. We’re not going to pretend that this is a particularly fantastic performance for this show. Yet, at the same time, what did you really expect? Did you think that we were going to see huge, earth-shattering numbers here? It’s a summer show and all things considered, this plus more than 4 million viewers isn’t terrible.

We know that CBS has enormously high hopes for most of its shows and it’s because of this you can’t be incredibly optimistic about a Blood & Treasure season 2. Nonetheless, we do believe in the opportunity for growth here — and at least for fans to make the renewal decision competitive.

The real model here to look at is Salvation, which managed to actually get a season 2 renewal off of numbers that were actually worse overall in total viewers. That makes us marginally hopeful in its future — though we have a hard time thinking that this is altogether a cheap show to film with all of the action they’re bringing to the table.
