Is When Calls the Heart new tonight on Hallmark Channel? If you look at the episode count for the past few seasons, it would make sense to expect a little something more. The past couple of seasons ran for ten episodes, Christmas Special excluded, and this one planned to do the same.

Alas, that’s not happening with season 6 anymore. Due to the much-publicized Lori Loughlin scandal (one that doesn’t require all that much of an explanation anymore), producers re-edited most of the footage so that the actress behind Abigail was excluded. Since there was a lot of footage featuring that character, that meant cutting down the episode order from ten to nine. Last week, therefore, was the finale, and now we’re embarking on a big When Calls the Heart hiatus.

If you do love all things Hallmark, can you at least rejoice in the premiere of Good Witch tonight? At least you’re not going to be waiting long to get another dose of programming.

So where does Hope Valley go from here?

When Calls the Heart season 7 kicks off production later this year, and our expectation is that you’ll get the typical episode order plus the holiday special — all will be back as it should be. There will be most likely new characters, familiar themes, and then also forward movement on Elizabeth’s life. This is a show that can and will go on! Given that the ratings following Loughlin’s exit were just as strong as they were beforehand, there’s really no reason to sound an alarm or be concerned.

Season 7 will likely premiere in February and operate via a more traditional schedule.

Did you know there’s a spin-off in the works?

If not, it’s entitled When Hope Calls and it’s going to be airing a little bit later this summer on Hallmark Movies Now. If you want more news about it, be sure to visit this link! It’s going to have a lot of connectivity to When Calls the Heart, at least in terms of it featuring a nearby community and some familiar characters. The producers want this to be an extension of this world! We don’t think that it’s required viewing per se, but tonally, it may be that thing that helps you get by from now ’til 2020.

We’re sure that there will be some When Calls the Heart season 7 filming updates throughout the hiatus; even without the spin-off, you’re not staring a wasteland squarely in the face.
