Fear the Walking Dead alum Kim Dickens lands new TV role
Well, today we’re at least pleased to know that Dickens is going to be a part of an upcoming project in a big way over on USA Network. According to Deadline, Kim is joining Briarpatch in a series-regular role. It’s one that is coming from Universal Cable Productions and has a good team of people involved — think in terms of writer/executive producer Andy Greenwald and then also Mr. Robot and Homecoming EP Sam Esmail. It’s based on the Ross Thomas novel, and Rosario Dawson is going to star as Allegra “Pick” Dill, “a tenacious and highly skilled investigator working for an ambitious young senator in Washington, D.C. When her 10-years-younger sister, a homicide detective, is killed by a car bomb, Allegra returns to her corrupt Texas hometown. What begins as a search for the murderer becomes a fraught and dangerous excavation of the past Allegra has long sought to bury.”
So how does Kim factor into all of this? The aforementioned site notes that she will be playing “Chief of Police Eve Raytek, an authoritative firecracker who is committed to finding out who killed Allegra’s sister. She’s a boot-stomping good old girl who’s used to operating in an all-male environment. She knows how to do a shot, read a room and get things done.” We know that Kim excels at playing these sort of characters who are formidable, but also still fun at times and have a big heart. Hopefully, this is the sort of part that will check off all of the boxes.
It’s still going to be a while until we see Briarpatch on the air, but at least hearing about this production should help you to realize that there are some cool things in the works. Also, it’s good to see USA thinking ahead with some cool ideas

If you do want to get some more news on Fear the Walking Dead, there is a new episode airing on Sunday night and you preview it over at the link here. We know that there are still people out there hoping that Madison is somehow alive, but we doubt it — the fact that Kim’s getting a new TV gig elsewhere probably confirms that a little bit further, alas.
