Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 2: Alicia, Morgan’s discovery

Next week, Fear the Walking Dead season 5 episode 2 will arrive on AMC and bring with it the next phase of what is the group’s new mission. While this is a series about survival, it’s also one that is hoping to tell so many stories beyond just that. It’s about trying to help people and, in turn, trying to make the world a little bit of a better place — one person after the next. It’s an ambitious goal … but one that is almost sure to have its fair share of setbacks. This is a dangerous world, and there are lives that could be put into jeopardy.

Per all of the information that we’ve got, it appears as though episode 2 will be an important tale for Morgan and Alicia — hopefully, this is a sign of Alicia being established as one of the series’ leads, which we do certainly think she deserves after being the only surviving character at this point from the pilot.

Morgan and Alicia meet a survivor and learn of a grave new walker threat. Meanwhile, the mission is put to the test when one of their own goes missing. Elsewhere, Strand makes contact.

Remember along the way this season that there are surely going to be some more surprises and additional great characters that we have an opportunity to meet. This is an expanding world, but also one that could shrink from within based on some of what happens to our established favorites.

The challenge for Fear the Walking Dead season 5 is going to be, most likely, establishing some consistency. Season 4 was largely scattered all over the place, whether you are talking about some of the various storylines or, beyond that, some of what happened when it comes to the characters. We’re hoping that there will be an opportunity coming up to see these characters a little bit more together, largely so that those group dynamics can be built and relationships can be a little bit more established.

Basically, Fear the Walking Dead needs to hit the ground running and not slow down for a second. That is going to be the thing that makes this show great from the very start, and it’s something that we hope carries and courses through the rest of the season. It needs to get viewers hooked; that way, it doesn’t end up shedding any more of its viewership beyond what it already has.
