The Bold Type season 3 finale spoilers: ‘Breaking Through the Noise’

Bold Type

After a season of hopes, dreams, and advancement, next week The Bold Type season 3 finale is going to air on Freeform. What does that mean? For viewers, it is an opportunity to get a certain degree of closure. Yet, at the same time, not too much. This is a show that constantly does want to keep you guessing and speculating and wondering how they can up the ante. They’re going to do that eventually with the upcoming season 4, but you’re going to have to wait for a while to see it. (As an aside, can we just be happy that we know there is a season four coming up? Not all shows are so lucky to get renewal news before their finale airs. We’re spared the agonizing renewal debate…)

Story-wise, the upcoming finale for The Bold Type does seem like it’s going to emphasize a number of different elements that encompass several characters stories, and probably find a way to have your eyes shooting outside of your head in shock — take, for example, Jane having to deal with some devastating news at a time in which she should be doing a victory dance. The synopsis below gives you a slight indication of some of what is coming:

When Jane and Jacqueline’s exposé makes an impact, Jacqueline takes a hard look at how she can make Scarlet an industry leader that practices what it preaches. Sutton celebrates the end of her design seminar with a fashion show but surprises herself with the results. Jane deals with an emotional fallout amidst a career high. Kat makes a choice not to run from her problems anymore.

While The Bold Type and HBO’s Silicon Valley may not necessarily have too much in common when it comes to its characters, we do think that thematically, there are some similarities. With The Bold Type, for example, the constant struggle is allowing these characters to find more and more success over time, but not so much success that they suddenly surge ahead and become different people than the characters you know and love. Silicon Valley has been working within that world for a while. There is a certain part of the appeal that is about an underdog story, that you want to see these content characters continue to progress and get better and stronger and more successful. The writers just can’t rush it along too much.

For now, relishing the little victories and the opportunities to see some of these people smile is the top priority. That’s some of the stuff that you’re going to cling to when you’re shocked by a possible cliffhanger and angry about having to wait for several more months for the fourth season to premiere.
