Britain’s Got Talent results: Did Kojo Anim, John Archer make final?

Alesha Dixon Golden Buzzer

Tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent results will, at least for many people, be soul-crushing. Think about the competition! This is, by far, the most stacked field that we have seen for the show this season.

Who did we think would advance? That was a tough call. In terms of sentimentality, Colin Thackery was a safe choice, especially because the voters this season have all really looked towards sentimentality as a major factor in their voting so far. Meanwhile, Chapter 13 were going to have plenty of young fans.

For us personally, we were leaning more towards Kojo Anim and John Archer, two performers who did a lot to make us laugh and smile and their performances were pure talent. This is the sort of stuff that we love to see on this show — they work hard in their fields and they deserve to move on, though with the way in which BGT tends to operate with their results, we recognized full well that there was no guarantee that either one of them would do so. There was a reasonable chance that both of them, when the dust settled, would find themselves being phased out.

Now, let’s go ahead and get to the results…

The first person who was sent into the top three was Colin Thackery — which was no shock given the response from the audience. These people loved Colin — seriously, they loved him. He was a rock star to a lot of these people.

The second act put through to the top three, meanwhile, was Kojo Anim. We’re glad to see that a solid comedian was given so much love by the British public, and because he’s so different, that makes him all the more appealing.

The final act through to the top three was … John Archer! He seemed just as stunned as anyone that this happened. (So are we — this is the third straight show that the last person to perform didn’t advance.)

Who won the night?

The audience wanted it to be Colin, but did the public? As it turns out, yes! That means that it was between Kojo and John, which is truly an impossible choice between two brilliant men. We don’t fault the judges for ultimately choosing Kojo, though we know that there will be some conspiracy theorists out there that Kojo knew Alesha Dixon before the show and that made the process unfair. This was probably just the way that this was going to go even if Alesha abstained, just because Kojo already had two out of the other three votes.
