Elementary season 7 spoilers: Trouble for Sherlock, Joan in London

Elementary season 7 is going to be arriving in your direction starting on Thursday, and we don’t have to tell you just how excited we are! This is going to be a rather fantastic opportunity to start off a new chapter in the lives of Sherlock and Joan … but then also see at the same time more obstacles that jump in their path. While living London may sound beautiful and ideal — and very Sherlock Holmes — it’s not going to be perfect for these two in particular. We don’t get a sense that Joan is altogether happy there, but she’ll do her best to persevere and keep trying to do whatever she can to help Sherlock — and, of course, take down a number of pretty-bad people in the process.

Yet, almost as though it is instinct or some sort of unseen hand pushing them in a particular direction, there’s still going to be something moving these characters subtly in the direction of home. That will be seen in the second episode of the season entitled “Gunshot,” one that will bring the United States to Holmes and Watson even if they are on the other side of the Atlantic. Along the way, though, Sherlock’s status in the US will prove rather tricky to the case they are looking into. The synopsis below proves that:

“Gutshot” – Holmes and Watson try to work a stateside investigation from London when someone close to them is gravely wounded by an unknown perpetrator in the United States. However, Holmes’ stateside legal trouble – the result of a confession to a murder he didn’t commit – threatens to derail their efforts, on ELEMENTARY, Thursday, May 30 (10:00-11:00, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network.

When will Holmes and Watson return to America?

This is, almost certainly, the question that much of the first few episodes this season will pose. We’d like to see these characters back in the good ol’ US of A sooner rather than later, just because we want that reunion with Gregson and Bell — it may not be a straight-laced adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but this Holmes and Watson is basically its own thing now. We stopped comparing them to the source material (or to Sherlock) when it was clear that Moriarty wasn’t going to appear that much in the flesh. We want our mystery team back together! The writers most likely know this, so we’re not expecting to spend more than half a season waiting on the reunion.

As for how exactly the writers pull this off given that Sherlock can’t even enter the country right now, that’s certainly a question worth wondering. Go ahead and put on your own detective caps as we try and figure that out!
