Charmed season 2 premiere date hopes; what we know

Charmed

Given that tonight does mark the finale airing on The CW, it absolutely makes sense to start looking towards a Charmed season 2. Fittingly, that’s what we’re going to do within the space of this article!

If you didn’t know by now, here is your reminder that there is another batch of episodes coming your way … though there are going to be some key differences.

1. Timeslot – While there is no official Charmed season 2 premiere date as of yet on The CW, all signs point towards the series coming back this October — albeit now on Friday nights as opposed to Sundays. It will be a part of a lineup that also includes Dynasty, and we suppose that there are two different ways to look at this. The advantage of the show airing in this spot is that the ratings expectations are going to be fairly significant, given that Dynasty got renewed for a season 3 there despite having some of the lowest numbers out of any show on the air. Because Charmed is a franchise name and has some international capital behind it, it can draw money from other sources beyond jjust people who are watching in America. That’s never been more helpful than at this very moment.

2. Creative – When season 2 does return, there will be some differences in terms of both style and tone. Carter Covington, who ran the first season and put most of the focus on family, is departing. Meanwhile, Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro are coming on board in his place. The idea for the second season is to implant even more of a supernatural focus on the show, likely to play heavily into some of what viewers on The CW clearly crave. Just think about things this way — the vast majority of their shows at the moment have some sort of supernatural tinge, and even ones like Riverdale are set in a world where a lot of strange, supernatural stuff is possible.

The best thing about Charmed season 2

At the time in which this season of the show premieres, the great news is that you’re not going to have to worry anywhere near as much about comparisons to the original. That was a season 1 problem more, given that at the time of the show’s conception it was inevitable that you’d be looked at through that lens. It’s had a little bit of time to create its own identity now, and we don’t exactly hear social-media armies making anywhere near as big of a deal about this show as it used to.

Really, the best thing for Charmed season 2 is for it to just settle in, tell the story that it wants to tell, and then just get to see what some of the results are on the other side. We just want it to embrace the weird, the wacky, and the crazy! Avoid all comparisons and just go all-out to make this show fun and imaginative. A feast for the imagination.
