Station 19 season 3 premiere date hopes for Jaina Lee Ortiz, cast

Station 19

Following tonight’s season 2 finale, the good news is that there will be a Station 19 season 3. The bad news is, of course, having to wait for it for a good while.

Earlier this week, ABC formally announced their fall schedule and the shocking news is simply this: It’s not present there. The plan is to launch Station 19 season 3 at midseason, and the question you just have to wonder is simply when. More than likely, it’s going to be after the season 2 finale of A Million Little Things airs on the network — think in terms of the late winter/early spring. ABC wants this show to be paired off with the flagship Grey’s Anatomy, mostly so that they can still orchestrate some crossovers, if they choose, and also give it a nice ratings bump at the same time.

Here’s the one advantage (not that there are many of them) to Station 19 being off the air for as long as it is: When it comes back, you’re going to get a constant string of new episodes, basically one right after the next. That means fewer breaks and opportunities to sink your tenth into all of this material.

What do we want to see?

Much of it for season 3 starts off with establishing what’s going on with Travis Montgomery — he was last spotted in handcuffs at the end of the finale, and that does of course leave us concerned about whatever the future could be for him. Why are so many characters within the greater Grey’s Anatomy universe getting arrested these days? That’s a good question … maybe this is just the drama du jour?

Meanwhile, we do need to have an opportunity at some point in here to assess what’s going on with Ben, though we wouldn’t be 100% shocked if it’s taken on before then. Think about things in this way — wouldn’t you want to know what happens to him and his career on Grey’s Anatomy? Otherwise, you would’ve been waiting for a rather long time in order to see it.

There is still beyond this the relationship status of Andy and Sullivan, a couple that we know that a lot of people have been rooting for. We finally got that big, romantic moment at the end of season! Was that glorious? Sure, but it ended with a tremendous thud as Sullivan’s leg acted up. He didn’t tell Andy why he didn’t want to be with her, and this is something that he’s going to need to explain in the future. Otherwise, there’s not going to be a chance to dive in and explore this relationship anymore at all.

The last thing to note in season 3 is that we’re going to have a new showrunner — Krista Vernoff is adding to her repertoire this show to go along with the flagship Grey’s Anatomy.
