Chicago PD season 6 episode 22 (finale) spoilers: Jon Seda’s departure
Entering this episode (provided that he is not written off in episode 21 tonight), our hope is that Antonio will depart in a way that leaves open the door for him to return, but also a way that further ensures some element of happiness for him. Just think about all of the hard stuff that this character has gone through in between his family and his opiate addiction from earlier this season; we like to think that he deserves a few opportunities for a while here and there.
Of course, we say this full well knowing that Chicago PD is not a particularly happy show sometimes. It’s one where there is an abundance of death and sometimes, there’s a tendency for a lot of unexpected things to happen. In the finale this year, it seems like a lot of crazy stuff is coming to a head when it comes to Kelton and the election, and basically, Intelligence is going to be running a risk of being shut down entirely. It’s an incredibly difficult place to be, but we’re sure that one way or another, Voight will find a way to pull a rabbit out of his hat. for whatever reason, this is what he’s found a way to do with this show time and time again. (We can’t really have Chicago PD without this particular branch of Chicago PD … can we?)
Below, CarterMatt has the official Chicago PD season 6 episode 22 synopsis with a little more news now all about what’s next:
05/22/2019 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Wednesday) : With Kelton’s (guest star John C. McGinley) election all but assured, Voight (Jason Beghe) and his team must go off book in a last-ditch effort to save Intelligence from getting axed. TV-14 LV
We certainly do think that it’s possible that season 6 comes to a conclusion with the status of Intelligence still up in the air, or with something else happening that causes Kelton from actually getting elected. There is, at least dramatically, a pretty compelling reason to have Kelton go through and become the Mayor — think about all of the battles that this would set up between him and Intelligence moving forward in season 7. Provided that you were able to get McGinley back, that would certainly be exciting.
No matter what, we’re expecting a dramatic finale that really puts the focus on the oft-dark nature of Chicago politics. Hopefully, it lives up to some of the expectations that we’ve got in our head.
