Charmed episode 22 (finale) spoilers: ‘The Source Awakens’

Want to see what’s next on Charmed episode 22? This installment is the final episode of season 1, and we imagine that the show is going to wrap up with a bang — or, if nothing else, hellfire. This is a show that is ramping up most of its drama around what’s happening with Macy and the source, which is probably why in turn, this episode coming up is entitled “The Source Awakens.” This is going to be potentially one of the most painful episodes of the entire season for the group, mostly because it’s going to feature a beloved character showcasing a dark side to the point of you wondering if there really is a way to make her feel whole and normal again.

Wait, couldn’t we say something rather similar at this point about more than one Sunday scripted show at the moment? It sure seems that way. We’re a little more hopeful for Macy than we are a certain someone from the Game of Thrones world.

Anyway, CarterMatt offers up the official Charmed episode 22 synopsis with more news as to what’s coming up:

SEASON FINALE – Maggie (Sarah Jeffery), Mel (Melonie Diaz) and Harry (Rupert Evans) grow wary of Macy’s (Madeleine Mantock) new-found power. Meanwhile, Macy keeps creating alternate realities, but they don’t end up being the perfect versions she was hoping for. Meanwhile, Maggie and Mel still struggle with what will happen in their personal lives. Ser’Darius Blain, Nick Hargrove and Ellen Tamaki also star. Vanessa Parise directed the episode written by Jessica O’Toole & Amy Rardin & Carter Covington (#122). Original airdate 5/19/2019.

This episode is going to be a necessary one to both showcase the full extent of danger that the sisters are in, and then also give us a good sense of what season 2 of the series could look like. We do already have a sentiment that we’re gearing up for a darker, more intense version of the show than what we’ve seen so far. The first season was needed for the purpose of introducing us to some of these characters, and in turn making us feel like this version of the show can stand on its own two feet after being in the shadow of the original for as long as it was.

Moving forward, the next challenge is obviously going to be trying to extend this universe and bring in more and more serious threats, and also expand some of the greater mythology. We’re hopeful that there’s a way to get through to Macy and for the bond to be restored between her and the other characters … but what’s needed in order to make that happen could certainly prove to have some consequences. Think of that as something more to explore in season 2.
