Poldark season 5: Are we honing in on a premiere date?

PoldarkTrying to uncover a good many updates regarding Poldark season 5, including a possible premiere date for the show, has not been an easy task … and there’s a perfectly good reason for that. There’s been no hurry for BBC One to announce anything, given that we have been talking about a show for quite some time now that is still plenty of months away from coming on the air.

Yet, we are now getting closer to a premiere date, and at least today, we can answer one question — when is the earliest the show can come on the air? Well, our answer to that is quite simple: Sunday, June 9. The BFI in the United Kingdom is going to be holding a special screening for the season 5 premiere episode on June 5, and obviously a big part of what makes the premiere screening so effective is that the show is not out yet at that point. This means that the season 5 airing schedule could be reasonably similar to season 4, at least if it premieres not too long after the BFI event is held.

Hopefully, there’s not as big of a gap this time between the BFI event (which happed in May last year) and the premiere episode airing, given that otherwise, we could be waiting until July to see the show! Nobody wants that, and we also have a hard time really believing that the BBC would want to push the show off for that long, either. This is a series that does have a tendency to perform rather well in the ratings and the best thing for it would be to come out at a time in which the majority of viewers are expecting to see it.

As for what’s happening with this final season, think of it as a chance for Ross and the entire Poldark family to better establish a sense of peace for themselves in Cornwall. They’ve conquered many battles, both personal and professional, and they’ve also found a way to survive some deadly situations. Now, their biggest battle yet may be coming with none other than George Warleggan, now a widower following the death of Elizabeth. the one person potentially holding him back in his showdowns with Ross is now gone, and that does give us a fairly substantial reason to worry.
