Blue Bloods season 10: Should it begin with Jamie, Eddie honeymoon?

Blue Bloods season 9

Given that Friday night marks the big Blue Bloods season 9 finale, it may not make a lot of sense to talk about a season 10 already. Yet, here we are, doing that very thing … and also talking about a honeymoon!

Could we actually start next season with Jamie and Eddie, following their big wedding, could somewhere fancy or exotic to celebrate their marriage? It’s a fun idea to think about, and we can already see some sort of inspired story that comes from it. Think Death in Paradise where right smack in the middle of having a good time, the two see a murder case and they’re inspired to try to help out. It’d be a great chance to shake up the setting of the show a little bit and offer up some new and exciting locations.

Unfortunately, this probably isn’t the sort of thing that’s going to go down. Blue Bloods operates mostly using a very specific series of locations in New York City, and, unless they find a way to turn the city into something else, that’s probably not going to be changing all that much.

There’s also another thing worth thinking about here in terms of a possible time jump — this is the sort of thing that Blue Bloods does offer up in some form in between seasons and we have every reason to think that the writers will do something similar here. By the time the premiere airs, we’ll probably be on the other side of this honeymoon and things will go at least reasonably back to normal.

Of course, within that normal there will be a new paradigm. Honeymoon or no honeymoon, one of the biggest themes entering Blue Bloods season 10 is more than likely going to be trying to see how Jamie and Eddie handle being a married couple — and everything that goes along with that. This of course means a different home life but, beyond that, also a different work dynamic. They can’t just pretend like they aren’t together anymore. It’s a different world coming up for the two of them and there are likely many things that will change as a result of that. We’ll see some of that, most likely, play out over a series of different episodes in the fall.

For more on Blue Bloods season 10, we imagine that we’ll have plenty to say following the upcoming finale!
