‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 6 spoilers: Let’s Smurf it up!

Are you feeling a little bit blue at the moment? Well, the good news is that “The Big Bang Theory” is going to be here to cheer you up soon with something  that is going to make you want to sing a famous song: Smurf costumes!

While we don’t think that the upcoming fifth episode of the CBS sitcom airing on October 25 is going to be completely and totally about the classic 1980s cartoon, both Howard and Bernadette are going to be getting into the Halloween spirit by dressing up as Papa Smurf and Smurfette. For those of you who love their Smurf lore, here is an interesting parallel: just as Howard indoctrinated Bernadette into his world of video games and Sheldon’s classic pranks, Papa Smurf was responsible for turning Smurfette into a real Smurf after she was originally a creation of Gargamel to cause problems within the Smurf ranks. (With this, we have clearly shown that we know way too much about the Smurfs.)

We do know that there are going to be some other themed costumes this episode for the couples (which does mark a change from the past, when the guys themed most of their outfits around each other), and here is the official synopsis for the half-hour (entitled “The Holographic Excitation” released by CBS:

“The gang celebrates Halloween at Stuart’s comic book store. Meanwhile, Leonard seduces Penny with science.”

This synopsis is clearly good news for anyone out there who was concerned that Leonard and Penny were going to be splitting up thanks in part to a new female assistant to Sheldon, one that has been the target of all sorts of “love interest” rumors for Johnny Galecki’s character over the past few weeks.
