The Resident season 2 episode 22 video: John Noble guest starring!
Of course, we wish that we could say that his role is one steeped in all sorts of happiness and joy … but it’s not. Instead, this character could be bringing a considerable dose of controversy to the Atlanta hospital and to Nic’s life. In her pursuit of a kidney for her sister Jessie, Nic may be forced to consider just about every option — and that apparently includes buying a kidney off of some sort of shady market. This is where Noble comes into play, as he may be a special someone brought in via Alec to propose such an idea. This is dangerous, it’s certainly sketchy, and we wonder just how dramatic the final result here could be.
Well, we at least know this right now: We hate Nic’s dad perhaps more than we ever have. At the end of this past episode, he decided that it was better to lie and be a coward/terrible person than try to be there for his daughter. Yes, it’s true that Jessie is a recovering addict and it’s certainly possible that in the wrong situation, she could relapse and that’s something that the entire Nevin family will have to deal with then. Sometimes, you just gotta trust in Better Angels. You have to hope that there is going to be a way in which you are healthy and that she’s able to successfully tackle her disease this time around.
It’s likely that Nic’s father is going to be important here again before the end of the season. For the time being, though, this kidney-seller will be an important part of the story. We’re anticipating ethical debates, and to go along with that, we’re also anticipating heartbreak if Jessie’s condition worsens. While she’s okay to have dialysis for the time being, everything is on a knife’s edge. You never know if and when something is going to happen that is going to cause the scales to tip in a given direction.
Of course, beyond just Jessie you do have to worry about what Nic is going to do in terms of her relationship with Conrad … but we don’t think that this is going to be all that much of a focus over the final episodes. She really has to just take care of the crisis in front of her and it’s incredibly clear at the moment how enormous this one is.
