If you’ve been on the internet over the past couple of weeks, then you probably know that Titus Welliver is coming to be coming back for the final episodes of Law & Order: SVU season 20. In between stints on Bosch, he brought his scruffy-beard look over to the NBC institution as one of Benson’s more formidable foes out there in Rob Miller. The attorney has already shown himself to be a horrible human being, and we unfortunately have a feeling that he will probably do everything in his power to embarrass Olivia Benson. If he sees a way in which for him to go about causing her pain, he’s going to try to do it.

As for how Miller comes back to frame for the SVU, that’s something that remains to be seen — but the official synopsis below for “Assumptions” at least bears a little more insight all about what’s coming:

05/09/2019 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Thursday) : The SVU searches for two suspects spotted fleeing the scene after a Muslim woman is assaulted inside a synagogue. Meanwhile, Benson (Mariska Hargitay) is dismayed to find Rob Miller (guest star Titus Welliver) out on bail. Also starring Ice T, Kelli Giddish, Peter Scanavino and Philip Winchester. Also guest starring Peter Gallagher (Chief Dodds), Richard Kind (William Biegel), Nazneen Contractor (Nahla Nasar), Ted Sutherland (Ari Kaplan), Elise Hudson (Aida Galanis), Hadi Tabbal (Masud Faraj) and Bob Ari (Ezra Zuckerman). TV-14 D, L, V

Before we even get into a discussion on the episode itself, can we go ahead and start pouring the praise on for the guest cast? This is really a pretty phenomenal bunch of people, including one of our favorite character actors in Richard Kind and then of course Peter Gallagher, whose return here is certainly significant. With the ties that existed between Dodds and Miller after the Chief worked to have him arrested, don’t you think that Miller may try to ruin him just as much as he goes after Benson? It’s certainly something to watch out for, and whatever happens here is going to more than likely carry over into the finale.

As you probably know already, that finale does bear an added sense of significance within the SVU world, as it marks the last installment for Philip Winchester, at least as a major part of the series as Peter Stone. Maybe he could come back down the road, but we said the same thing about Raul Esparza as Barba and that still hasn’t happened.
