‘Dexter’ season 7 spoilers: First video of Yvonne Strahovski

Throughout Sunday night’s new episode of “Dexter,” we were given the set-up for what was going to lead to the arrival of Yvonne Strahovski’s character of Hannah McKay. However, what was interesting about it was that the link between Hannah and Dexter in her old boyfriend is already dead, and he was really just using his “coming clean about his past” excuse to get outside, have a frosty swirl for one last time, and then jump in front of a moving truck.

Dexter is going to be meeting Hannah for the first time to get a DNA sample, and for whatever reason he seems nervous about it. Does this give some credence to the possibility that she is a potential love interest? Sure, but it also feels at the moment almost like that is too easy. What we really see Hannah being for Dexter is proof that you can move forward from a past that is littered with death and dark times, and that there are other options rather than embracing a Dark Passenger. But is this really what it seems? We last saw Dexter try and adapt his philosophy on life with Brother Sam last season, but he really learned through that experience that he really could not change himself from the person that he believes himself to be. Hannah could still turn out to be dangerous herself, since it would not be the first time (see Lila, Trinity, or Miguel Prado) that Dexter brings himself closer to someone who has a darker side to themselves.

What do you think about this video, and given her work on “Chuck,” are you excited to see what Strahovshi brings to the table here?
