Is Saturday Night Live new tonight on NBC? What lies ahead in May
So here’s the bad news: There is no new episode of the show airing tonight. We’re taking a little break over the next couple of weeks to catch our breath and prepare for what should be a really memorable stretch to close out the season.

Just in case you haven’t heard just yet, here’s some of what to look forward to through the month of May leading into the big May 18 finale.
May 4 – Adam Sandler is back! Given how notable he is as a former cast member, you would think that he would’ve hosted the show before. He hasn’t. He’s done cameos sure, but this is the first proper hosting gig for it. (He’s expressed some uncertainty in the past about coming back, stating that he wasn’t sure that he would be anywhere near as good as he once was.) We expect some musical sketches, but beyond just that a lot of irreverent humor. With Sandler, it’s all about the laughs more so than trying to make some sort of larger message. Shawn Mendes is going to serve as the musical guest.
May 11 – Emma Thompson is also hosting the show for the first time! This is going to be a lot of fun mostly for the uncertainty of it all. We have no idea what she’s going to bring to the show as a host, and that’s a big part of what makes it so exciting. The Jonas Brothers, meanwhile, are slated to be the musical guest on the night.
May 18 – For the big finale, Paul Rudd is going to be coming back and hopefully bringing his own signature brand of comedy — which typically means him being down to do whatever the writers throw at him. While there could be some Avengers: Endgame references thrown in here, we think that this is probably a little bit more about just getting a chance to see a really fun, closing episode of the season — and it could end up being the last one for longtime cast member Kenan Thompson, who currently has an NBC comedy pilot and could become a full-time part of that show if it is ordered to series.
