Blue Bloods (Jamie & Eddie) vs. Hawaii Five-0 (Junior & Tani) – Crime Dynamic Duos 2019

Welcome to CarterMatt’s Crime Dynamic Duos for 2019! The goal for this tournament is pretty easy to explain: Recognizing some of the best crime fighters in all of television. The word “crimefighter” can at times have a loose interpretation, but for the sake of this tournament, we’re referring to it mostly as cops, lawyers, or investigators who do their best to take down some pretty bad people and fight to help others. They’re the sort of characters you typically admire, and they have an aspirational quality to them along with them being entertaining.

Within this piece, round 2 of the tournament comes to a close, and it’s doing so with two CBS Friday-night duos — they’re traditional cop partnerships in many ways, but there is a deeper romantic connection here! With Jamie & Eddie of Blue Bloods, you’ve got a pair who is already on their way to the altar. Meanwhile, with Junior & Tani of Hawaii Five-0, you’ve got one that could end up making it there … at least so long as Danny’s vision of the future turns out to be correct.

If you’ve been around for past editions of Crime Dynamic Duos, then you know a thing or two about how this works — at the bottom of this article is a poll to vote for who you want to see advance! One duo will, and at the end of the month, we’ll officially crown the champion in all of their glory.

How voting works – Vote however often you would like! (Technical instructions for multiple voting can be found right above the poll.) We will keep this poll open until Sunday, April 21 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. The winner of this battle will be squaring off against either Lucifer & Chloe of Lucifer or Gibbs & Sloane of NCIS — that battle is happening right now, and it’s already looking to be one of the most intense ones of the whole tournament.

You can see the full bracket (including start dates for each individual round) in the graphic at the top of this article.

The competitors

Jamie & Eddie, Blue Bloods (#3 seed) – What’s so great about these two? Well, a lot of it starts with how effective they are in the field — their ability to take down bad guys and also still look after each other is one of the reasons why viewers rooted for them so hard in the first place. It began long before the two were a couple this season, though unquestionably the Jamko-of-it-all has sparked even more excitement around the two of them than ever before.

With the wedding coming up at the end of the season, it would be easy to make the argument that now is the most exciting time ever to be a fan of these two characters — wouldn’t a Dynamic Duos victory be a nice metaphorical wedding gift? Potentially, but there’s a LOT of competition that they’re going to have to go through to make it to that point.

Junior & Tani, Hawaii Five-0 (#7 seed) – What we’ve got with these two characters at the moment is one of the biggest underdogs that Crime Dynamic Duos has to offer. After the big Criminal Minds cliffhanger we anticipated Reid & JJ to be tough competition, but Beulah Koale and Meaghan Rath’s characters were able to steamroll their way to round two and an especially formidable opponent.

So where does the popularity of these two characters stem from? There are a few different sources, but we believe that a lot of it comes from just how supportive they are of each other, their sense of humor, but also their flirtatious chemistry. While they are still new characters (they’ve only been around a little more than a year), the writers have done a good job of working them into the larger Five-0 Ohana.
