Supergirl season 4 episode 18 return date hopes for Melissa Benoist, cast

Supergirl season 4 episode 3

Following tonight’s new episode, are you interested in learning the Supergirl season 4 episode 18 return date on The CW? Rest assured — we’ve got more news on that and a whole lot more within!

The obvious bad news to report on here is that we’re at the end of an era in regards to the current story arc. We know that the plan for Lex Luthor going in was that he was only meant to appear in a handful of episodes this season and because of that, we’re not so sure that he’s meant to be endgame here. Instead, Supergirl could revert to a different direction, one where hopefully the action is still going to escalate. (The biggest problem the writers have is that they have to find a way to follow up what has been the best story arc this season — a lot of stuff came full circle and Jon Cryer’s all sorts of brilliant in this role.)

So when is Supergirl season 4 episode 18 airing? Think in terms of Sunday, April 21 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. The plan here is to run the final five episodes one right after the next and with the finale set for near the end of May, this is the best way that the network can make this happen … while also still leaving a number of episodes in the middle of May sweeps. These matter immensely to these executives, since it’s when a whole lot of the lucrative ad money starts to come in.

Obviously, we’d like to see by the conclusion of this season a great leap forward with a couple of major storylines — think in terms of what’s been going on with Agent Liberty / the Children of Liberty in general and the frequent battles between humans and aliens. While we understand that this is meant to be an echo of what’s happening in the real world, at the same time we don’t think that the writers want to continue this forever. Doing so is limiting what other stories can be told and given that we’re just in season 4, we like to think that there are at least a couple of years left for this show. (In our head, we envision a universe in which Supergirl lasts for at least seven seasons — that’s a good length for a lot of these shows, since it probably also represents the lengths of a lot of actor contracts. Six is the minimum in our mind unless people want to take off early.)
