Last Man Standing season 7 episode 20 is going to air come Friday, April 19, and there’s a chance you haven’t heard that this is far from an ordinary episode of TV. After all, this is the 150th installment of the show! This is a big milestone and one that is going to involve some long-term goals. Take, for example, Mandy trying to figure out who to get her clothing line off of the ground; at the same time, Ed’s going to be fighting to get his life story out into the world.
Want to get some more, specific scoop? Then we highly recommend checking out the 150th episode synopsis below:
In an effort to help get her clothing line off the ground and into stores, Mike invites Mandy to sit in on a business meeting with an aggressive sales rep (guest star Melissa Peterman). Meanwhile, Ed hires Kyle to transcribe his life story in the all-new “Yass Queen” milestone 150th episode of LAST MAN STANDING airing Friday, April 19 (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (LMS-720) (TV-PG L)
This episode is certainly going to bring the comedy, which is something you probably expect from every episode … but what’s there beyond that? This is what we’re more curious to figure out. Often with milestone episodes, you see a show really work to push itself in a new direction or take a nostalgic look back. It’s nice in these sort of episodes to call back to some of the early days, and with this show in particular, there’s a lot to reflect on. Think about it — Last Man Standing has aired so far on two different networks and multiple timeslots, and even went through a number of recastings during its run. There have been a lot of things that could’ve slowed it down, but you can make the argument that nine seasons in, this show is stronger than it’s ever been. As a matter of fact, it’s averaging basically the same live 18-49 rating as it did during season 6, which is super-impressive when you consider that season aired two years ago and there is such a large exodus these days away from people watching television live.
The next big milestone for this show is obviously going to be a 200th episode, but it would take a good bit of time for Last Man Standing to make it there. How long? Think in terms of early season 10, if they continue to do 22-episode seasons. If the next two seasons could bump up their order to 24, it’s possible that you could get there by the season 9 finale.
Given that this episode is still many weeks away, we’re going to have a better chance to talk about it over the weeks ahead.
