NBC’s ‘Smash’ season 2 spoilers: A musical reuinon

We have yet to see a single second of footage from the second season of “Smash,” but it still looks as though we are getting set to see all sorts of good stuff just based on all of the exciting new additions to the cast. Just look at the list of people that we know about so far: Jennifer Hudson, Sean Hayes, former “Hairspray” star Nikki Blonsky, and Jesse L. Martin of “Rent” fame.

Now, it looks as though we are also going to be seeing a member of the “Rent” cast also joining the fold. According to a brand-new report from Entertainment Weekly, actress Daphne Rubin-Vega (also of “Rent” fame) is going to be coming on board the show for at least one episode as a Broadway publicist. Unfortunately, there’s not that much else in the way of information just yet, at least other than the fact that we know for sure that she is not going to be doing too much in the way of singing … meaning at all.

Based on what we know so far, the show is really doing their best to go completely and totally “all in” with what is coming up next. What are we talking about specifically? There’s a new showrunner in Josh Safran, and there are so many other changes behind the scenes when it comes to the cast, and we’re sure that there are going to be some other ways in which the new season is different just when it comes to format.
