NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 18 preview: ‘In Plain Sight’
So what makes this story so important for this character? It has to do with a couple of different things — the fact that it is tied to someone from his past and also the way that this said past is colliding with his present. He witnesses a traumatic event within this episode and it’s the sort that we imagine will stick with him for a good bit of time — regardless of whether or not there is justice. Some things in life just cannot be forgotten; that’s the way of it and that’s something that Patton himself knows after years of being on the job. He just doesn’t have to experience some of what he is during this episode on a regular basis.
Want some more insight? Below, CarterMatt offers up the official NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 18 synopsis with some of the latest scoop:
“In Plain Sight” – The NCIS team investigates the murder of Patton’s friend, a former Navy Seal gunned down in a drive-by shooting while Patton helplessly watched, on NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, Tuesday, April 2 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
The fact that this victim is a one-time Navy SEAL obviously ups the ante in terms of just how horrific this murder is — this is someone who’s been trained to be prepared and alert for almost anything under the sun, so it’s a pretty darn big deal when something actually takes someone like this by surprise. When it comes to Patton’s pain, you have to then look at the difficulty of watching something like this happen and knowing that there’s almost nothing you can do about it. You’re almost checking out all of these events in slow motion and then forced to relive them throughout the investigation.
We know that this is a busy time for Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as an actor. Think about it — this is an actor who’s alternating between this show and Fear the Walking Dead these days, and while it’s great that he’s so busy, we like it when he gets a spotlight or two amidst the busy schedule. It’s one thing to see him across so many episodes of different shows. It’s another thing altogether to hear his voice and get to see a full story that revolves around him. Perspective is important. We’ve gotten that for many people when it comes to NCIS: New Orleans this season, but there are still others who are left in the shadows. Lasalle is a great example of it.
