Blindspot season 4 episode 15 preview: Jane confronts her past

Blindspot season 4

There is a showdown coming on Blindspot season 4 episode 15 in one week’s time, and it is a dramatic one. In one corner you have Jane Doe – determined and ready for whatever lies ahead as possible. In the other … well, you’ve also got Jane, in a way. No, this is not another Remi situation, so don’t look at it as the writers trying to simply replicate something that they’ve handed down to you before. This is an opportunity for them to explore more of Jane’s past — a part of it that could prove violent.

In a lot of ways, this is a recurring theme with Blindspot as of late — an issue arises with significant ties to what’s happened before, and some of these characters need to figure out the best way to take it on before the doors get blown off the FBI. Sometimes, that means think-tanks and heavy discussions. Other times, that means characters traveling to other parts of the world. No response to a crisis on this show is ever the same — that’s a big part of why it is so exciting!

The problem lies sometimes with how NBC describes the episodes; you look at something like the synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below for episode 15 (entitled “Frequently Recurring Struggle for Existence”) and the super-easy assumption to make is that “oh, so this is kinda the same.” It’s not.

03/15/2019 (08:00PM – 09:00PM) (Friday) : Jane (Jaimie Alexander) confronts her past as the team rushes to keep a deadly weapon out of a terrorist’s grasp. Also starring Sullivan Stapleton as Kurt Weller, Rob Brown as Edgar Reade, Audrey Esparza as Tasha Zapata, Ashley Johnson as Patterson and Ennis Esmer as Rich DotCom. TV-14 V

Just off the top of our head, here are the ways in which this episode will feel a tad different from what you’ve seen before.

1. The circumstance – Characters have clearly gone through more now than years ago. We’ve seen terrorists and deadly weapons before, but now Weller and the rest of the team have more of a roadmap. Blindspot should be about learning from your mistakes … among a million or so other things, sure, but that has to be among them.

2. The allegiances – That’s been a really fascinating journey to track. Think about where Jane/Remi has been, how we first met Rich Dotcom, or where Zapata has even been for a better part of the season. Different personal stances = different stakes. It’s really as simple as that.

3. The end result – What comes on the other side of all of this? We’ll go ahead and tell you that the March 22 episode (entitled “The One Where Jane Visits An Old Friend” — no, this is not a title for an episode of Friends) is going to feature the team hot on Madeline’s tail … and Jane will, in fact, pay someone a visit. Hey, wouldn’t you rather have a super-literal title as opposed to some of the super cryptic ones? Just a thought…
