Is Chicago PD new tonight on NBC? Season 6 episode 17 return date
Unfortunately, we do come bearing some bad news for those who haven’t heard it through the grapevine (which these days mostly means Twitter) — there is no installment tonight. There’s also not one next week, or the week after that. As a matter of fact, there’s not going to be any new episode coming onto NBC until we get around to Wednesday, March 27. What gives there? Well, a lot of it has to do with NBC wanting to give you arcs of episodes rather than just spreading them out as CBS does with some of their shows.
Also, NBC will be preempting some of the One Chicago shows for a special on March 20. Take this time to binge-watch, reminisce, and prepare yourself for some awesome storytelling coming in the near future.

Now, let’s get to the next important order of business here — trying to determine what we want to see when the series does return! A part of what’s made season 6 so strong to date is how it’s mixed together Chicago politics and police work: These are things that do often bleed together in the real world. Why? Because people love power. The police offer power since they are the people responsible for keeping the city safe. If they spin a narrative that is appealing to a select group of voters, that matters a lot. We do want to see this continue to be a part of the story, largely because we’re so far in at the moment. Isn’t it right to try and see this through at this point?
Elsewhere, we, of course, want more of what’s going to happen with Upton, Ruzek, Burgess, and Halstead. There is a lot of history surrounding these characters, and things have also certainly been messy. The thing that we’re left to wonder now is if we can get a resolution this season. We’re hoping for it, largely because relationship instability is not something that we’ve had all that much of in any show in this universe! Can we get a little bit of that, somewhere? Gabby and Casey used to be our solid source of it. Maybe, that’s something we’ll get a good sense of by the finale (or at least we hope).
