This Is Us season 3 episode 15 preview: The drama of ‘The Waiting Room’

Next week on This Is Us season 3 episode 15, be prepared to see a story of uncertainty. It’s about waiting, wondering, and questioning just what the future could be. It’s only fitting that the title for it is “The Waiting Room,” given that for many of these characters, that is what they’re going to be doing: Waiting. Presumably, they are going to be waiting for Kate in order to see what’s going on with her pregnancy as well as her future.

You knew coming into this episode tonight that a situation was going to unfold regarding Kate that would require her heading to a hospital. There is no jaw-dropping surprise that comes with seeing that. The question you have to wonder is what’s going to happen on the other side, and if both Kate and the baby are going to end up being okay. From the start, there were some obvious concerns here — she knew that she had a high-risk pregnancy and she knew that there were a number of different things that could go south with it. Still, she wanted to do it, and she wanted to make this big dream of hers into a reality.

03/12/2019 (09:00 PM – 10:01 PM) (Tuesday): Tensions run high as the Pearsons await news about Kate’s pregnancy. TV-14

This may not give you too many clues as to what’s coming, but we know that the pregnancy of Kate is going to be far from the only important thing happening within this hour. Take, for example, what is going on with Kevin’s sobriety. Obviously, you don’t just wake up one morning and everything gets substantially better. There are a lot of obstacles and issues that you have to overcome, with one of the biggest ones being simply yourself. You have to find that inner sense of balance and avoid the pitfalls that got you into trouble before.

Meanwhile, for Randall, we really gotta see the other side of the story with him and Beth. He tried to tell her tonight that she was going to have to give up being a ballet teacher — for now, anyway. That’s problematic, mostly since it represents Randall saying that his work matters more than hers. Not exactly the case, no matter the job. There may be a way that both characters can make their dreams come true, but it could take some tough conversations and a little bit of compromise. Nobody can get what they want every second of the day.
