The World’s Best video: TNT Boys, Dundu, Nina Conti return!
Before we talk about some of the returning contestants, let’s start things off with some surprising news: Space Cowboy is back! Despite not getting anywhere close to the votes needed to advance to the second round, he is going to be a part of Wednesday’s episode and facing off against skilled ventriloquist Nina Conti. What gives with that? The show may have just needed some more acts to even out the numbers a little bit, but this does probably bode well for Nina’s future prospects given that Space Cowboy has already been eliminated once. Why come back? Our feeling is that when you do some of the crazy stuff that he does, it’s probably pretty tough to find a lot of venues — even if he goes right back home, it’s another few minutes of publicity.
Here are some of the other highlights to keep your eyes peeled for…
Dundu Giants of Life – One of the most beautiful acts we’ve ever seen. It’s almost impossible to properly describe given that it’s so much about how you feel in the moment that you’re seeing them.
William Close – His Earth Harp Collective is a musical experience — it was awesome on America’s Got Talent and guess what? It’s equally awesome now!
TNT Boys – The singing trio from the Philippines is a fan favorite, and they were just in America this past week, where they were surprised by Ariana Grande on The Late Late Show! You can read our exclusive interview with them over at the link here, as they talk about that experience plus being a part of the first round of the show. We also made a video detailing some of our thoughts on the interview further! Check that out at the bottom of this article, and subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube so you don’t miss any of our weekly videos all about the show this season. We also have a full The World’s Best playlist.
Naturally 7 – This may very well be the acapella/percussion act that all others dream of being. They can really make a full orchestrate out of nothing and it’s super-impressive. They’re going to do battle against William Close in what’s going to be the musical showdown of the ages. Some good acts are gonna go home this round, but you have to beat the best to be the best.
This episode is going to be fun, and we hope that somewhere in here, there are more opportunities to learn a little bit more about the culture and the background of some of these performers. This is a show that exists because of its global scale, and we’d like to see the producers lean into that a little bit more. Think about where some of these performers come from — there are acts this season from places like the Philippines and Kazakhstan — the majority of The World’s Best viewers don’t know anything about these countries beyond mere superficial facts so this is a great way to extend out to new potential fans.
