Magnum PI spoilers: Roger E. Mosley, original TC, to guest star

Magnum PI is going to be bringing you a massive blast from the past later this season — Roger E. Mosley is going to guest star and if you are a fan of the original show then you know exactly who this is!

According to a new report from TVLine, Mosley (who played the original version of TC a.k.a. Theodore Calvin on the series) is going to be playing the role of Booky, a Vietnam War vet and barber who spends some time with the modern version of TC, played on the show by Stephen Hill. Booky is going to be a source of some great advice for the character over the course of his time on the show.

In a new statement discussing the appearance, here is some of what Hill has to say:

“Working with Roger E. Mosley was an inspiring way to begin Black History Month. It is truly an honor for us to welcome an original cast member of Magnum, P.I.; one who embodied the role of T.C. with such thoughtful and dignified talent.

“Roger and his beautiful wife Toni are proud of my take on the now-iconic character and expressed their enthusiasm to see me and my cast win … We exchanged gifts on set, and now Mr. Mosley and I have a signed Island Hoppers T-shirt from the other’s show. The proverbial torch has been passed.”

This is a really lovely gesture for Mosley to make, and it shows the joint affection that is here between the two shows. We know that original Magnum Tom Selleck has given his blessing to the series already — the main reason why it’s so hard to get him to guest star is that he’s filming Blue Bloods in New York. The two shows film at roughly the same time, and on completely different sides of the country. Since Selleckis is in every episode of that show, we have a hard time imagining how an appearance could ever work unless CBS managed to pull off some rather-impressive scheduling magic.

Mosley is going to be appearing on Magnum PI for the upcoming episode airing on March 11. Meanwhile, the next new episode of the show is set to air on Monday night.
