‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 8 spoilers: More on Robin Sparkles’ return

Are you ready for another sizable slice of 198=90s cheese on “How I Met Your Mother”? Let’s hope so, since the show is going to be bringing back its famed Robin Sparkles for at least one more go-around before the end of the show this year.

Here is what we know right now courtesy of a new report from TVLine: the character will return for a pair of flashbacks during the eighth episode of the upcoming season (otherwise known as the same episode featuring the return of Joe Manganiello as Brad). The twist? Only one of these two flashbacks is going to actually be grounded in reality, whereas the other one will be completely and totally made up. Both scenarios involve a hotel and Robin’s behavior; in one of them she is a model young lady, whereas in the other a Canadian Mountie comes and claims that he has received complaints about the noise.

As for whether or not we will hear another song on par with “Let’s Go to the Mall,” there’s no word just yet. The truth here really is that there is so much that the show has done already with the Robin Sparkles character, it’s hard to imagine just how much there is without just going into overkill. Plus, the show has some other valuable questions worth answering, especially if this is the final season, such as “who is the mother?” and “how do Barney and Robin end up getting married?” Then again, we wouldn’t mind seeing some more Sparkles if the show is extended one more year, if for no other reason than that these episodes always do succeed in making us smile.
