Magnum PI episode 17 will feature small Hawaii Five-0 crossover

Magnum PIIt’s been a while since we’ve seen a Magnum PIHawaii Five-0 crossover of some sort, but that will change in episode 17 of the former show. While we’re not going to be seeing a huge crossover event by any means, this episode will feature an appearance from Dennis Chun as Duke. This follows a few other crossovers that we’ve seen throughout the season so far, especially near the start of this season.

There is value in these crossovers in a number of different ways. For starters, this is a way in which to ensure that more viewers who love Hawaii Five-0 flock over to the new show. It builds up the world, and it also gives Chun some more work — it’s basically a situation where almost everybody wins. We’d love to see some sort of huge, large-scale crossover with the two shows down the road, but that is admittedly not the easiest thing to do when you’re thinking about the sheer scale of it production-wise and also that these two shows are different nights of the week. That makes it a little bit more challenging to make some sort of massive event around it.

Below, CarterMatt has the official Magnum PI episode 17 synopsis with some more information as to what’s coming up next:

“Black Is the Widow” – After a man is murdered, Magnum poses as a doctor on the same dating app the victim was using in order to find the killer who may be praying on wealthy men, on MAGNUM P.I., Monday, March 4 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Guest stars include Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich and HAWAII FIVE-0’s Dennis Chun as HPD Sgt. Duke Lukela. Also, the 2018 Honolulu Little League World Series Champions make an appearance.

Aside from the Dennis Chun appearance, it does seem like there are some other interesting aspects of this episode — it’s a complicated murder case and clearly, there’s a big baseball presence here, as well. The entire Hawaii Five-0 franchise has always found a fun way to utilize athletes and other unique guest stars; apparently, this is just going to keep the tradition going for a little while longer moving forward.
