In the video below from the upcoming February 27 season finale, you can get a better sense as to just how secretive it is as the producers do everything in their power to ensure that nobody knows that truth about some of these stars. They are kept in a mask at all times, including in rehearsals and in the holding area. Not only that, but all friends, family members, and even agents have to come to set in a mask, just in case someone knows a celebrity through one of their friends.
As if this was not secretive enough, the celebrities are all forced to wear shirts that say “don’t talk to me” on them, and the crew is also kept in the dark. Whether you are a crew member, a stage manager, or even host Nick Cannon, nobody other than a select few behind the scenes know precisely who each person is. This video also shows audience members signing non-disclosure agreements so that they can’t go off and tell anyone about some of what they see.
The Peacock specifically jokes in this preview that he has more security than the President of the United States, and the Poodle (who we know already to be comedian Margaret Cho) also makes it clear that it can be a very difficult, isolating experience being on the show. These are people who are all used to having a certain degree of notoriety no matter where they go, so this is one of the few times in their entire lives that they have been forced to go around hiding a big secret. It’s going to be a rather taxing thing for them to take on. Nonetheless, we do think that the experience is very rewarding for some of these stars — The Masked Singer proved itself to be an enormous hit this year on Fox and because of that, we have to assume that even more big-name stars are going to come out in droves in order to be a part of the show moving forward.
Of course, with that, we imagine that security and so much more will be even more intense moving into season 2.
