American Horror Story season 9 starts filming this June
According to some new Production Weekly listings, it appears as though the long-running FX series is going to be coming back to film its latest batch of episodes starting in June, which makes a reasonable amount of sense given that the new season will more than likely premiere in September — as it has done for the past few seasons.
As for what sort of information is actually available on it at the moment, there isn’t all that much. With that being said, we do still know that Emma Roberts will be appearing, and that Gus Kenworthy (best known as an Olympian) could end up playing the part of her love interest. We know that this is a series that has shown itself to have some rather-innovative casting over the years and with that in mind, we have to think that a little bit more is coming.
What we’re hoping for the upcoming season (and this is something that we’ve said in the past) is that there is going to be some sort of opportunity coming up in order to simplify the show and the greater franchise at large. We don’t think that there should really be any pressure for the writers to keep going bigger and on a more epic scale. If you think about the horror genre in general, there are a ton of horror movies that are extremely low-budget and small, and are every bit as good as the big-budget ones that have a lot of major corporate backing behind them. Consider all of this a little bit of interesting food for thought.
Let’s just hope that executive producer Ryan Murphy and the members of his staff opt to actually give away some more scoop as to what’s coming — we do recognize that there are some super-secretive seasons of the show, but we don’t think that this is one that necessarily needs to play out that way in the slightest.
One way or another, we’re going to remain optimistic that this new season of the show lives up to many of our expectations, and delivers something that will leave people talking. After all, it doesn’t appear as though there is no real end for the franchise.
