Are you ready for Call the Midwife season 8 episode 6 to arrive on BBC One? We know that we’re excited for Mother Mildred to return!
Even though this character is still extremely new to the Call the Midwife world at the moment, it feels like she’s actually been around for years. That is a great testament to the writers and producers, who have worked to create an exciting dimension to the show with her. Mother Mildred allows us to get a better sense of the hierarchy from Nonnatus House and beyond. That’s something that is fascinating for those who want to know some of the inner workings of the church. Mildred hasn’t exactly been Mother Superior for a long time, but she has seemingly gotten used to some of the responsibilities. One of the most-important ones here, clearly, is being sure to visit many of the sisters that are under you. Sometimes, it’s beneficial for these visits to be unexpected. If someone knows that you are stopping by, after all, they know a little bit better how to prepare for you.
The sneak peek below from this weekend’s episode gives you at least a small sense of Mildred’s arrival, and the interaction that exists between her and Fred — who seems genuinely surprised to be speaking with her at this particular point. Yet, it’s his job to make her feel welcome, and we’ll have to wait and see precisely what comes from this interaction down the line. We’re hoping for some great things and plenty of surprises, but we will get a better sense of that on Sunday.
What we know is coming up is that there are going to be some emotional stories — not that this should come as all that much of a shock to anyone. Meanwhile, we’re also aware of the development of Lucille’s relationship. We saw her meet a potential new love interest on this past episode of the series, and she hesitated before taking the leap and deciding to date him. What if she regrets that choice? That’s a question that this episode will wonder, as she makes some discoveries that leave her questioning whether or not she is doing the right thing. We hope that everything turns out okay, mostly because this is the sort of show that does leave you nervous much of the time about what’s happening with some of the characters.
