At this point on Grey’s Anatomy season 15, it seems as though Meredith has chosen Andrew DeLuca as her romantic partner. Their relationship is still early, but it does seem as though they are moving in the right direction.

While we do think that the two clearly want to make things work, there is still a prevailing issue that the two are going to have to take on eventually: Having to work together. It’s one thing for them to have feelings for each other and date outside of the hospital, but will they be able to handle strife at work? With Meredith, it’s less of an issue — she’s had enough history working with Derek and then Riggs to know how to navigate these sort of difficult situations. Yet, at the same time for DeLuca, we still don’t know him anywhere near as well. He’s been with Maggie, sure, but he’s only been a big presence on the show for a small window of time. How will he deal with a conflict where Meredith may go against what he thinks is right? That’s something that we’re going to be seeing moving into Grey’s Anatomy season 15 episode 16, entitled “Blood and Water,” which is airing next month.

Meredith finds herself having to side with either Alex or DeLuca during a difficult situation, but she doesn’t want to betray either of them. Meanwhile, Maggie reveals details about her personal life that cause a public stir, and Levi struggles with whether or not to tell his family about Nico.

We should bring back the idea of Alex in this episode as a possible thorn in Andrew’s side — we doesn’t think that Grey’s Anatomy is dipping into the Merlex well by any means, but Meredith and Alex are close. Very close. That can be uncomfortable for some people to deal with, especially if Meredith chooses to go along with Alex’s recommendation/thinking during this “difficult situation” rather than his own.
