‘Hart of Dixie’ season 2 premiere review: Who did Zoe choose?

There was something rather ridiculous about the season 2 premiere of “Hart of Dixie” on Tuesday night, but at the same time, it was almost ridiculously entertaining. We had Zoe struggling to make a decision between Zoe and Wade, Lavon coming face-to-face with his ex from high school in Rudy, and also Lemon running through the streets with a knife. Ultimately, this event was ultimately described as the first-ever “hostage crisis” to happen in BlueBell, and yet it was somehow hilarious in how this small town managed to blow something that was circumstantial completely and totally out of proportion.

It was really interesting in that despite the major cliffhanger at the end of last season, really a good chunk of this episode was actually all about how Lemon was going to move forward following George leaving her right before their wedding. She wanted to make a big impression right away to everyone that she was starting over by moving out on her own for the first time and putting on a smile. The problem? She doesn’t have a job, and she is going to have to take this one step at a time. She ended up going to Zoe’s with a “heart attack,” and the cake-cutting knife in her hand led to pandemonium in the streets and the police even coming in. Sure, it wasn’t realistic … but that’s not really why we watch this show.

As for Zoe’s choice, it only took her a good 50 minutes for her to finally make up her mind between the two men who have been after her for months, and they each had their own attributes. When it came to George, we had a character who would be more committed to her … but never really wanted to leave BlueBell. Meanwhile, Wade claimed he didn’t want anything serious, and he dissed his time with Zoe in bed.

The shocker? Zoe chose … no one! Shocked? You shouldn’t be. It was a little bit frustrating, but at the same time, it does keep this love triangle story going for a little bit longer so that everyone can grow up a little bit … or at least it seemed that way until she ended up hooking up with Wade again, anyway. So really, she did choose Wade … sort of.

Meanwhile, Lemon finally got a job as a waitress, which was not necessarily what she wanted to do. At the same time, it did give her a little bit more freedom in the world.

What did you think about Tuesday night’s season premiere?
