Outlander season 4 Blu-Ray release date, other details revealed

Yesterday, we reported on the first bit of good news when it comes to the Outlander season 4 Blu-Ray set — special scenes! These clips, called Outlander Untold, are a way to get small glimpses into the world of some notable characters including Young Ian, Murtagh, Willie, Lord John, Phaedre, and others. There are four of them that you will get a chance to see in the set — they are not deleted scenes, and were filmed specifically for the purpose of being a part of the set. Consider that another reason to purchase.

Now, we’ve got some more news as to when you can check out the season 4 set — think in terms of May 28. That’s not too long to wait! It at least gives us something more to look forward to as we await the fifth season, which isn’t going to be out for a particularly long time.

So what’s in this set? Think in terms of five Blu-Ray discs, a photo book, the season 4 soundtrack, the aforementioned Outlander Untold scenes, and then also an exclusive look at Diana Gabaldon’s upcoming Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. For those of you who are enormous fans of the books, this may be the primary selling point of the set more so than anything else. (It’s been almost five years since Written in My Own Heart’s Blood was released.)

We imagine that there will be some more press related to the season 4 set at some point in the near future, and we’re certainly eager to have a chance to see and discuss some of that! There is a lot to look forward to with this, just as there is also a lot to look forward to in season 5 and beyond. Remember that Gabaldon is planning to write ten books in her series; it remains to be seen if Starz goes that far with the show, but we certainly would be all for the idea. It’d make this one of the longest-running premium-cable shows out there and allow viewers to have a chance to see Diana’s full vision … but we also recognize that there is going to be a lot of time to speculate about that in the future.

For now, let’s just celebrate having a season 4 Blu-Ray release date! There is actually more of an incentive to buy this one than any set to date.
